Devon Records Access Point
South Molton and District Museum has recently become a Devon Records Access Point where microfiche records of births, deaths, and marriages for South Molton and the surrounding area are available. Our resident Family Historian is happy to assist with genealogical searches concerning people who lived locally. The museum makes no charge for this facility, although a donation to the museum would be appreciated.
Disabled Access
Events/teaching/resources for people with disabilities. Toilets for disabled persons are nearby in the Guildhall. Wheelchair access to most of the Museum's Galleries.
If you have a friend who has particular needs, please call the Museum, so that arrangements can be made to make the most of their visit.
Children and Families
Families and children of all ages are particularly welcome; there is a small gallery at the rear of the Museum with a collection of historic toys and games, and a replica fire engine for children to sit in. Simple quiz sheets are available at the Museum entrance.
School Visits
School groups are welcome, by appointment only. Please contact the museum to discuss requirements.
Facilities
Toilets are available in the Pannier Market next to the Museum.
Volunteering
Can you spare a few hours a week? Why not give some time to help the running of the your town Museum? We are always in need of people of all ages and backgrounds to become museum attendants, administrators, and researchers. Contrary to popular belief not everyone who works for a museum is a 'fossil'. In fact we are a happy cheerful crowd, so why not come and join us. Contact the Museum and Collections Officer on 01769 572951, or pop in for a chat and meet some of the existing volunteers alternatively e-mail curator@southmoltonmuseum.co.uk
